Podcasts
NashvilleZine invites our readers to create their own podcasts for distribution by us. A podcast is basically a radio show created as an mp3. We’d like the podcasts to feature as much new and local music as possible.
We’ll be adding information (and our readers can add information as comments) to this page to help get the podcasts rolling.
One of the biggest hurdles is the hosting. Right now, we are unable to host the podcast mp3s on our server. We tentatively recommend OurMedia.org who provide free podcast space in conjunction with Archive.org. However, our results have been spotty.
The most important thing about finding a host for your podcast is that they provide you a direct link to the mp3 file. We will not send our readers to an ad-sponsored page from which they will have to download the mp3. We must be able to link the mp3 file directly for our RSS feed to work.
Once you’ve created a podcast and uploaded it to a server, send us a link to the file and a little info on you and the podcast. We’ll be in touch after that.
You can find our podcasts here.
The RSS for our podcasts is here.
You can use ipodder to download automatically your favorite podcasts.
Some tips:
A good length for a podcast is under twenty minutes.
Talking a lot between songs is often boring.
