Monday, 31 October 2005Secret Halloween Queens ShowMake a note of it: we heard a dirty little rumour that Queens of the Stone Age will be performing a “secret” show tonight after the Gaylord extravaganza at the Exit/In. Yacht RockWe have been remiss in not recommending Yacht Rock from its inception. It’s simply the funniest series of short films we’ve ever seen. Go catch up on what you’ve missed. Make sure to watch the episodes in order. Halloween circa 1989The Germs, Fear and Suicidal Tendencies played L.A. over the weekend. Marky Ramone and Flipper opened. Thank youIt was nice to get a little personal recognition from the Scene last week, especially considering the hours I put into this site, but the Zine runs as well as it does thanks to our contributors who keep the listings and gossip up to date. (read more…) Shout Out Louds @ Exit/InHow else to spend your evening tonight but by seeing Shout Out Louds at the Exit/In in continuing support of Howl Howl Gaff Gaff. Maybe it can be the 8pm jumpoff point to the rest of the random parties you have to attend tonight. Alcohol Stuntband / Falls City Angels / Ole Mossy Face @ Alley CatTonight is the East Nashville Halloween Pub Crawl and we wish you all good luck. Just make sure you hit the Alley Cat between Jaeger Bombs for some kick ass rock n’ roll supplied by Alcohol Stuntband, Falls City Angels and Ole Mossy Face. There is no better way to spend the devil’s holiday than with his drink and his music. So put on your costume and get ready to raise a little hell in the Bible Belt. NIN / QOTSA / DFA79 @ GaylordThough it’s probably too obvious to even bother posting here it should be noted that Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, and Death From Above 1979 will be playing at Gaylord tonight. Tickets will run you roughly $53 and it will be like watching the band on TV but hey, that’s the deal with gigantic stadium shows. Sunday, 30 October 2005Gwar @ City HallThere’s something about a GWAR show on the cusp of Halloween that seems all too appropriate. Tickets are $20 but you’re almost guaranteed to see someone covered in fake blood by the end of the evening. The Bravery @ Exit / InTonight, ’80’s new wave reigns supreme at the Exit /In with The Bravery, and by their side is VHS or Beta with their noise inspired house music. This could quite possibly end up being the best dance party of the year. As someone who loved Depeche Mode and hates Starbucks just as much, this is one show not to miss this season. Doors open at 8pm. Tickets are $15. See you all there. |
