Daikaiju in Pitchfork

Daikaiju gets a 7.8 in Pitchfork.

Katrina

The losses in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi due to Hurricane Katrina continue to grow. We’ve posted an ad in the sidebar with a few links to services that need donations to help the victims of the hurricane. You can also check Give.org and Guidestar.org for more information on charities helping in relief efforts.

Ozzfest @ Starwood

Evidently, Iron Maiden will have left the tour by the time Ozzfest rolls into Nashville (well, Antioch), but Mudvayne will still be around. By now, you should know what to expect of the lumbering metal fest which succeeds annually in spite of all those “experts” saying that people just don’t go see live music anymore. The line-up is just as brutal as ever. Black Sabbath, Slack labelmates Shadows Fall, Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society and Rob Zombie (who headlines the Hot Topic second stage). The ticket price should be worth it to see Velvet Revolver getting their junkie asses kicked by 20-somethings like Bury Your Dead as well as the geezers in Sabbath .
