More Record Deals

Who will be the next band from Nashville to secure a record deal?

Live Aid 2?

If the landmark 1985 super concert wasn’t enough, get ready for a second one, currently titled Live Aid 2: This Time, It’s Personal. Of course, Bono has his hands all up in it..

UPDATE: Meanwhile, in England, the series producer of the Channel 4 programs on emergency aid in Africa, The Hunger Business, asks “What Happened to the F**king Money?

Counting what?

Jim Morrison alive?

So word on the street is that Jim Morrison, the legendary singer for The Doors, is alive and well living as a cowboy in the pacific northwest. Check it out.

Overzealous @ Bluesboro

There are moments when Overzealous show off a melodic sensibility to rival some great middle Tennessee power pop groups. Then there are the moments when their stabs at angsty grunge land a peg or two below Silverchair. Hopefully, the band will soon outgrow the yelps and overdrive, because the pop stuff suits them better. You can sample some songs at their mySpace page. They play Bluesboro tonight at 9pm with Motivational Speakers. $5.

Dynomite!

If you thought those Star Wars fan movies were a little too involved, then check out Anakin Dynamite. It’s got just the right amounts of crappy production and funny premise.

Separated at Birth!

Well, it’s pretty safe to say that we think Josh from Murfreesboro’s Overzealous very much resembles Stewart Copeland from the Police. Check out the evidence:

And just for the hell of it, here’s a comparison with a young Malcolm Mcdowell, star of Star Trek Generations, Clockwork Orange, and the amazing video game Wing Commander III.

Nerds are hilarious

Star Wars nerds fans do some funny stuff. We were checking out the Fan Films at TheForce.net and came across TROOPS — which is COPS on Tatooine. Domestic violence, lying perps — it’s just like the Earth version.

We also recommend IMPS: The Relentless — which was originally billed as TROOPS 2 but became a larger “documentary” film about life on an Imperial Destroyer.

Ole Mossy Face / Carter Admin @ The Alleycat

Ole Mossy Face and The Carter Administration will attempt to drunken up your Memorial Day weekend with this show at the Alleycat in East Nashville. The sweet country licks of Ole Mossy Face make the beer taste better. And word is that the last Carter show tore the proverbial roof off the joint. Get ready to rock and roll.

8pm (Sharp, they say)

Bring cash.
