Wednesday, 30 June 2004The Paper Chase and We Ragazzi @ Red RoseHey, hey, The Paper Chase and We Ragazzi play the Red Rose tonight in a surprisingly good mid-week show. The Electric Servants of Righteousness @ the BoroTonight, Jason Phelan’s new seven piece rock n’ soul revue, the Electric Servants of Righteousness, join up with Sourpuss for a show at the Boro. 9 pm Tuesday, 29 June 2004Hostages, Joeyadamkelleyalex, Schematic of a Waking Life @ Red RoseSchematic of a Waking Life, Hostages, and Joeyadamkelleyalex are all playing at the rose tonight for all of you not heading out to the Spoon show in Nashville. Yet another addition to the series we’ve dubbed “Hot Boro Summer Nights“. MTSU to increase parking passes by $20In a memo dated 6/28/04, MTSU parking services announced that all MTSU parking passes for next year will be $20 more than last year. This increases the green pass to $65, and the white one to $85. If you’re an MTSU student and think that this is complete bullshit, email Ron Malone at rmalone@mtsu.edu. He’s the director of parking services, so ask him where all the extra thousands of dollars are heading (can someone say raises?). The Clutters Got Robbed … So Help ‘em outThe Clutters may have lost in the semi-finals of Little Steven’s Underground Garage Battle of the Bands, but they can still make it as a Wild Card. Here’s how to make things right: We’ll close with a word from Steph: “Help us get to the finals and get revenge on those damn Canadian Chickens!!” UPDATE 6/30/04: Just got this email from Steph: “the Underground garage decided to take down the voting page because the voting process was flawed. Some computer geeks were writing programs to vote continoulsy for their band. So they deemed the system Unfair. Don’t know how they are going to pick the Wild Card winner yet, but it probably won’t have anything to do with public voting.” The Sincerity Guild @ the EndThe Sincerity Guild, who have just finished mixing their forthcoming Theory 8 Records release with Bob Weston, and who have also recently added a new guitar player, perform at the End tonight with Unwed Sailor. 9 pm, $5 Spoon @ 12th and PorterBritt Daniel and Co. have been crafting some of the best rock records around for almost a decade now, and are making a rare Nashville appearance this evening. Last time they were in town, at the Rites of Spring on Vanderbilt’s campus last year, they blew everybody away with a killer, beer-soaked set. This time, they’ll be previewing some new stuff off of their as-yet-unfinished new album. We promise, there’s nothing else you’d rather be doing tonight. Opening act will be Thee Shams. 9 pm, $10 Sunday, 27 June 2004The Clutters @ the EndWhat’s this all aboot? The Clutters return home from Cleveland after being defeated in the semi-finals of Little Steven’s Underground Garage by - what’s this?- a band of matching Canadiens? Say it ain’t so. Never fear, they’ll be in fine form tonight opening for super hot garage rockers the Greenhornes. If the Sonics and Billy Childish turn you on, this show is your wet dream. 9 pm, $5 |
