Boring is the new Exciting Pt. 2

The Scene weighs in (a week after us) on last week’s IBL record release show.

Best part? Maybe:

The lead singer [of Aireline] took himself way too seriously: pounding his keyboards with his eyes closed, he looked about as rock-star cool as Ross from Friends.

Lytle St.

This week’s big tip: don’t drive down Lytle street if you don’t want your alignment fucked up. It’s in terrible shape as they’re getting ready to pave it next week. Developing…….

Jazz Fest

Everyone knows that spring is here when Jazz Fest happens in Murfreesboro. It started tonight, and continues tomorrow. It’s always a good time and *hush hush* you can drink beer on the square if you put it in unmarked containers….

Green Rode Shotgun @ Blue Sky Court

Green Rode Shotgun rocks the Blue Sky Court tonight with Lume, the Adored, and Thornton. 9pm, 18+, $5

The Mattoid @ Springwater

The Mattoid, Your Cut of the Trust, and Nashville’s very own caucasian incarnation of Wesley Willis, Dave Cloud, play the Springwater Supper Club and Lounge tonight. 10:30, $3

River Stages

Tim Chad & Sherry @ the End

Sounding like an outake from the Boogie Nights soundtrack, Tim Chad & Sherry are funky in an are-they-serious sort of way. The electric piano, wah-wah pedal and spacey synths help them play it off legit. Recommended for fans of 70s porn soundtracks. There’s some tasty downloads on their site.

They’ll be at the End tonight.

Popular Genius @ the Exit/In

The only local band we know of to prominently feature a flute (the next Jethro Tull, perhaps?), local popstars in the making Popular Genius open for Jump tonight. Unfortunately, Jump are not the Van Halen tribute band we wish they were, but rather the renamed version of crap-coustic college rockers Jump, Little Children. 9 pm, !8+, $12

On Command, Simon Brawl, the Mattoid @ Hair of the Dog

On Command, Simon Brawl, and the Mattoid grace the stage at Hair of the Dog, one of the newest venues in town. It is actually a combination of a restaurant, a bar, and a music club, and it is located on Acklen Avenue off of 12th Avenue South (near the Wedgewood intersection). Word around town is that it’s a pretty cool place, and if you haven’t been there, it’s a great opportunity to check it out.
