In this modern music age of iTunes and myspace pages, it’s easy to forget about the simple pleasure of laying a needle to vinyl and awaiting the warm sounds that almost always follow. Lucky for us, not everyone has forgotten. Local rock group Ole Mossy Face and Lawrence, KS band The Ants have just released their split EP Chinese Democracy on twelve-inch vinyl, and the sounds contained in the grooves - as well as the simple fact that the record exists - are quite a refreshing change of musical pace.

We don’t want to spoil it for you, so just go take a peek at who appears on the new Queen tribute album, Killer Queen. Then come back and discuss.
Oh crap. Didn’t they understand how stupid Dig made them look too? It’s not like they were the heroes of the film or something. Nonetheless, the Dandy Warhols are riding the tiny crest of revived interest in their band and releasing a new album. It’s called ODDITORIUM OR WARLORDS OF MARS. It will be a tremendous hit.

Yeh, the publicity machine is in overdrive. Yeh, we’re taking the bait. But we don’t care. It’s Shatner, baby!
In the mail this week, we received a sampler of William Shatner’s new album, Has Been (the official release date is Oct 5). You know by now it was produced by Ben Folds who did most of the music and features guest appearances by Joe Jackson, Aimee Man, Henry Rollins and (gag me) Brad Paisley. We ordinarily wouldn’t care too much, but the CD rules.
